A couple episodes ago, we pegged Mack Wilson as a potential cut candidate based on his poor performance last season. Not because we don’t like Mack (we love him, actually), but because his poor performance last season didn’t project well for his odds against guys like Jacob Phillips, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Sione Takitaki, and Malcolm Smith.

Recent news has come out indicating Wilson played through an injury, wasn’t healthy, and dealt with doubts about his career in 2020. Apparently, he even considered retiring just two seasons into the NFL.

When Mack Wilson was drafted, we really believed the Browns got a steal. His rookie season showed flashes of the type of player he could become, and hopes and expectations here high going into 2020. After a disappointing season, Mack Wilson has come to training camp with new motivation and determination to not only make the team, but to fight for a starting spot on the defense.

We love Mack Wilson, and we’re ready to see him step into the potential he displayed in 2019. Go get ’em, Mack.
